Herts County Team Championships:
A contingent of SAA members took part in the Herts Team Championships on Sunday, consisting of 3 Recurve and 4 Longbow. Richard, Vernon and Barry all setting new pbs for the FITA 25. Barry, shooting in his first competition, found things a bit nerve racking, but still shot well. The Longbows all shot together apart from Gordon who opted for the morning session and shot the best score for the team, with Karen and Steve backing him up to take second place in the event.
A big well done to all who took part. Pictures here.

Halloween shoot:
SAA celebrated Halloween on the 27th of Oct with ghosts, spiders, skeletons and witches suffering the arrows of misfortune, as archers took turns to shoot the witch and her cat as she flew across the back of the gym, trying to cast spells on them all. The witch's familiar, Felix the cat* seemed to get an unfair share of punishment as he was pinned to the boss with arrows until decapitated, as for the witch she lost her head and flew away hoping to return next year.
The archers jubilant at their success drank bats blood with bone shards to celebrate the victory. Pictures here.
* No living, mythical or undead creatures were harmed during this fun shoot.

Kestrels Archery Clubs Portsmouth round:
Richard, Karen, and Paul ventured out to the Kestrels Archery Clubs Portsmouth round on Sunday 10th Oct.
It was an early start on the first session so all a bit subdued, but Richard shot his first round with his recurve bow and scored a respectful 526. Karen and Paul shot Longbows, at the end of the round Karen and Paul were in 1st place and Richard was in 6th so the long wait began as we waited for the next 2 sessions to be shot. Just before the start of the 3rd session we were given the opportunity to shoot as one three spot target had become available, so Richard decided to have a go and shot in amongst the compounds and scored a fantastic 531. Well done Richard.
At the end of the day Paul had taken the gold in the gents, Karen took the gold in the ladies and the combined score gave us the team longbow gold as well. Richard came a very respectable 8th in the double. Pictures here.
